About the Artist
Jon Cleary, a London-born musician, defies expectations as a New Orleans piano maestro. A multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter, Cleary’s musical journey began at the tender age of 5 with the guitar. By 16, he co-founded ‘Delta Wing’ with blues guitarist Roger Hubbard, earning praise from blues icon Muddy Waters.
Fascinated by funk-infused tunes, Cleary delved into the works of Allen Toussaint, a journey that led him to New Orleans. There, he immersed himself in the city’s rich musical heritage, honing his piano skills at the legendary Maple Leaf Bar.
Cleary’s mastery of the New Orleans sound earned him spots as a session musician for local legends like Earl King and Dr. John. His 1989 debut album, “Alligator Lips & Dirty Rice,” marked the beginning of a remarkable career, showcasing his blend of R&B, soul, and blues.
Collaborations with icons like Keith Richards and Bonnie Raitt further solidified Cleary’s reputation as a musical powerhouse. In 2016, his album “Go Go Juice” earned him a GRAMMY award, a testament to his enduring talent.
Despite global acclaim, Cleary remains rooted in New Orleans, captivating audiences with his soulful performances. Join him on his musical journey through his website and social media channels for updates.
