About the Event
Lauren Halliwell is a Bay Area-based jazz and blues artist who has been performing professionally for 15 years. Lauren performs regularly around the Bay Area. You can catch her with various different groups around town, mainly fronting “Dolce Musica” and her band, “Lauren Halliwell & The Dirty sound.” Lauren started The Dirty Sound venture about a year ago, and has been full steam ahead working with various blues artists around the Bay Area. Her musical influences are Patsy Cline, Etta James, Lou Ann Barton, Dinah Washington and many more. She is passionate about promoting women in the blues and is also working on a special blues series that features local women of talent in the industry. The Fountain Blues Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is organized to preserve and promote the indigenous American music known as the blues, and related genres like rock 'n' roll and R&B. Activities take a variety of forms, including live performances, broadcasts, lectures, and community education, culminating in the longest-running blues festival in Northern California: the San Jose Fountain Blues & Brews Festival and live music events throughout the year.
